Coils for reducers

Reducer coils in LPG systems

Reducer coils (or: solenoid coils) are key components in CNG and LPG systems. Their function is to control the flow of gas to the engine.

Working principle of the LPG reducer coil

Solenoid control: The gas system controller sends an electrical signal to the reducer solenoid.

Valve opening/closing: The solenoid generates a magnetic field which causes the diaphragm or piston in the solenoid valve to move.

Gas flow control: Depending on the controller signal, the solenoid valve opens or closes the gas flow to the regulator.

Types of solenoids for LPG solenoid valves

Diaphragm coils: The most commonly used, controlled by a magnetic field generated by the coil.

Piston coils: Less common, but can offer greater precision in flow control.

Functions of LPG pressure regulator coils

Switching the gas supply on and off: Coils allow the regulator to be controlled according to the needs of the engine.

Safety: In the event of a fault or leak in the system, the coils can automatically shut off the gas supply, preventing leaks.

Gas dosage control: The coils can be controlled continuously, allowing precise adjustment of the amount of gas supplied to the engine.

Important remarks

The reducer coils should be matched to the type of gas system and controller.

Have the coils fitted and adjusted by a qualified CNG/LPG installer.

Defects in the coils can cause engine problems such as loss of power, unstable revs, engine stalling.
