Gasoline
Controllers - petrol
The LPG controller, also known as the LPG computer or LPG ECU, is an electronic device that is the main component of the car's LPG system. It is responsible for controlling all the components of the LPG system and ensuring that it operates correctly.
Main functions of the LPG system controller
- Reading engine parameters: The controller reads information from the engine control computer (ECU) about current engine parameters such as RPM, load, engine temperature and intake manifold pressure.
- Gas dosage: Based on the parameters read, the controller doses the correct amount of LPG gas to the engine. The gas dosage must be precise to ensure optimum engine operation and minimum exhaust emissions.
- Switching between petrol and LPG: The controller controls the switching between petrol and LPG supply. The decision to switch is usually based on engine temperature, engine rpm and other parameters.
- Adaptation to different conditions: LPG controllers have functions to adapt to different engine conditions and gas quality. This enables them to ensure optimal engine operation in different situations.
- Fault diagnostics: LPG controllers have error diagnostics functions to detect faults in the LPG system. Error information can be displayed on an LED display or read out using a diagnostic computer.
Types of LPG system controllers
There are many different types of LPG system controllers, which vary in function, capability and price. The most common types of controllers are:
- Sequential injection controllers: The most modern and accurate controllers that ensure optimum engine operation and minimum emissions.
- Mixer controllers: Older type of controllers that are less accurate than sequential injection controllers, but are also less expensive.
- Universal controllers: Adapted to different car models and LPG systems.
How to choose the gas control unit?
When selecting a LPG system controller, there are several factors to consider:
- LPG system type: Sequential, injection or carburettor.
- Car model: Some controllers are designed for specific car models.
- Features: Desired features such as adaptation to different conditions, fault diagnosis, ability to connect to a diagnostic computer.
- Price: LPG controllers may vary in price from several hundred to even several thousand PLN.
Installation and service of the LPG system controller
The assembly and service of the LPG system controller should always be performed by a qualified mechanic with the appropriate authorisation. The condition of the controller should be regularly checked and periodical inspections of the LPG system should be carried out in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations. ZAMEL is not only a distributor of proven LPG controllers, but also a service centre where we assemble LPG systems and perform periodic inspections.
Properly selected, assembled and serviced LPG system controller is crucial for safe and comfortable driving on LPG. It ensures optimal engine operation, minimum emissions and fuel economy.
